Make room for conversation
Start with what interests the child. Put words to what you see and do, ask questions that invite more than yes or no, and allow time for an answer.
Plain language
Plain explanations of what we research, plus reading and conversation ideas for home.
Start with what interests the child. Put words to what you see and do, ask questions that invite more than yes or no, and allow time for an answer.
Look at the cover, wonder about the pictures and the story, explain new words, and connect the book to the child's own experience. Conversation is an important part of reading.
Follow the child's lead and expand what they say with a few words or a full sentence. Meals, dressing, play and walks offer natural opportunities.
If you have questions about your participation or the project, please contact the project lead.
